One other German producer that attempted its hand at producing diesel bikes was Neander. Their mannequin 1400 turbodiesel-powered bike produced 115 bhp and had a restricted manufacturing run in 2007. Alan Cathcart of Motorbike Cruiser took a check trip on the Neander 1400 and was suitably impressed by the 1400’s clean energy supply. Nevertheless, he admitted it put out the substantial noise typical of most diesel engines. “By any requirements,” he wrote, “this bike is a shock … for the efficient method wherein it applies the advantages of diesel growth to a motorbike.”
Nevertheless, Neander did not see the business viability of manufacturing diesel bikes and has since returned to its major focus of creating outboard motors for boats.
One firm has seen the void and is promising to step in to fill it. Columbus, Ohio-based Axiom Diesel Cycles obtained its begin in 2012 exterior Atlanta. In an announcement on the corporate web site, firm founder Matthew says, “I couldn’t purchase one so I construct [sic] one.”
